Jomael: Developing Healthier Connections in Fatherhood

Research has shown that father engagement in a child’s life is particularly important in the health and development of the infant and growing child. Recognizing the important role that fathers play in the overall development of families, PHS recently implemented a Fatherhood Initiative and will be working to expand the program throughout New York City.

As of today, more than 2,300 children are in detention centers after being separated from their families at the U.S. border.  Most of these children are under 13 years of age, and face significant short- and long-range developmental, mental and physical health issues related to these government actions.
